Bachmann unveils decidedly pro-lightbulb agenda

You know you've got a pretty sad state of affairs on your hands when one side of the ideological aisle can get whipped up into a frenzy at the mere mention of lightbulbs. But with past lackluster voting records from Republicans and continuing sub-par leadership from congressional Democrats, that's exactly the kind of state we find ourselves in today.

During her address to the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans Friday, Rep. Michele Bachmann pledged that a presidential administration with her at the helm would let Americans buy whatever kind of lightbulb they want. The Hill reports:

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) took aim Friday at a law mandating more energy efficient light bulbs, vowing to overturn the requirement if elected president.

"President Bachmann will allow you to buy any light bulb you want,” Bachmann said at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, La.

Bachmann touted her Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act, which would repeal a provision in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 that requires traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient beginning in 2012.

Bachmann brought this same kind of no-nonsense leadership and enthusiasm to Saturday's Right Online conference in Minneapolis.

The Right Scoop has video of her rousing remarks:
