An F-16 with the Alabama Air National Guard crashed off runway during the Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture Convention in Oshkosh, WI, Thursday morning.
Officials estimate the F-16 was traveling about 70 m.p.h. when it hit the grass at the end of the runway going nose down sending grass and dirt flying everywhere.
Fox WITI reports that the pilot of the F-16 is with the Alabama Air National Guard according to the guard's spokesperson. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution and has since been released.
An official with the EAA says it could have been a mechanical malfunction or pilot error. He also says no EAA visitors were ever in any danger.
The Air Force is investigating the incident. No damage estimate was available.
