While there may be jubilation in many parts of Tripoli, fighting continues and the city is far from stable.
BBC Reporter Rupert Wingfield-Hayes found this out the hard way yesterday, as he and his news crew drove a car alongside a rebel convoy in Tripoli and were caught in the middle of an ambush by forces still loyal to Gadhafi.
Hayes and his comrades were able to speed away to safety, but the incident is a stark reminder of the uncertainty and danger still present in Tripoli even as the regime of Colonel Gadhafi appears to be in its death throes.
