Does This Ultrasound of a Testicular Tumor Look Like a Face in Pain?

"...his mouth agape as if the face seen on the ultrasound scan itself was also experiencing severe epididymo-orchitis."

Usually, when you take and ultrasound and see a face, it's of a baby inside a mothers belly. But doctors in Canada got a bit of a shock when they saw the image of a face in ultrasound of a testicular tumor.

The U.K's Daily Telegraph has more:

G. Gregory Roberts and Naji J. Touma, from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada, had conducted the ultrasound to examine an unusual mass in the testicle of a 45-year-old patient.

Writing in the [September issue of the] journal [Urology(via The Chronicle of Higher Education)], they said: "The residents and staff alike were amazed to see the outline of a man’s face staring up out of the image, his mouth agape as if the face seen on the ultrasound scan itself was also experiencing severe epididymo-orchitis,” wrote the authors, referring to an inflammatory condition.

Although your first inclination may be to laugh, this mass was still a tumor. According to procedure the tumor was removed and luckily was found to be benign. And for the record, according to the Mayo Clinic, epididymo-orchitis is inflammation of the testicle at the epididymis, the tube that carries sperm.

At least no one has likened this face to an image of Jesus yet, although the Telegraph does note Roberts as saying they did briefly consider if this was a sign from a deity.
