While Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya may have finished first in the New York City Marathon with a course record time, some would say the real winners were Mary and Raymond Donaldson, who were wed on the 22 mile:
The couple met while running, and appropriately, were wed during a race. Luckily, Raymond had recently met a minister fast enough to keep pace with the duo. The couple said that their families witnessed the ceremony from sidelines at the 22nd mile mark. The couple is Italy-bound for their honeymoon Tuesday.
Mutai finished in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 6 seconds Sunday, crushing the previous mark of 2:07:43 set by Tesfaye Jifar of Ethiopia a decade earlier.
