Family Goes to Bury Dog After It's Killed in Car Accident...Only to Find It Still Alive!

"...alive but dazed."

As you might imagine, a family finding their Yorkshire Terrier Shih Tzu puppy named Scamp in the road bleeding with eyes fixed after a car accident would be shocking and sad.

Having to tell your 6-year-old twin grandchildren that their dog had gone to heaven would be difficult as well. But that's what Reta McKinlay of Yelm, Wash., had to do while her husband wrapped the dog in a blanket and placed him under a wheelbarrow for burial the next day.

But when Paul McKinlay went to turn over the wheelbarrow to bury Scamp, he found him sitting up, turning a shocking and sad story into an unbelievable and joyful one. Scamp was alive.

Watch the AP News report:

The family has said that Scamp went to the vet and when it looked like he would survive the McKinlay's told their grandchildren he was in fact alive.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
