Meghan McCain measures privacy in text message terms

One of MSNBC's newest contributors, Meghan McCain, doesn't like the new book about the Obamas. In an appearance on "Now with Alex Wanger," on Monday McCain said the book, which is chock full of gossip and scooplets, reached too far into the privacy of the First Couple.

"I'd have no problem with this type of thing being written if they were out of office," McCain said, "I think some small emoticon of privacy... I'm just saying they deserve some small emoticon..."

They deserve a small what?

She said "emoticon," but surely she didn't mean this :) or this :'(

McCain went on twitter afterward to offer an explanation:

Yeah, I don't buy that either. "Emoticon" is heard very clearly, though the second time she says it, it could be argued that she says "emoticum."

Watch here to be dazzled.
