Energy Secretary Give Himself an 'A' for Effort in Controlling Gas Prices

"I think I'd give myself a little higher than an A- in that I've been doing everything I can."

Energy Secretary Steven Chu appeared in front of the House Oversight Committee today, and made a surprising admission while there. When asked, skeptically, by Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, whether Chu should get an "A-" on helping to control gas prices, Chu said, "I think I'd give myself a little higher than an A- in that I've been doing everything I can." Watch Chu's "A for Effort" remarks below:

Issa responded to the remarks with a Socratic interrogation of Chu about President Obama's remarks taking credit for America's energy production.

"If you had to do it all again, would you have made the large scale investments that you made in Solyndra and all these others?" Issa asked.

"That's an excellent question," Chu responded, and then didn't answer it directly, instead describing the administration's investment portfolio.
