In late March a fake report about South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley claiming she would be indicted by the Department of Justice spread across the news landscape like herpes in New York City.
The false item started at an obscure blog in South Carolina. Then it was tweeted by the blogger and within a few minutes, it was featured on the Washington Post and USA Today.
