A South Jersey man who ignited rage among his neighbors for flying an American flag featuring President Barack Obama's face instead of the stars has taken it down.
He's replaced it with two flags, one with the traditional stars and stripes and another with a picture of the president, Philadelphia CBS affiliate KYW-TV reported.
Wes Kennedy of the Acacia housing development in Lumberton, N.J. told the station he didn't even know some of his neighbors were angry about the flag until he started getting calls from news reporters.
"If someone had come to me in the beginning, I would have said, ‘Let’s sit down and talk to see what we might reasonably come up with as a solution,'" Kennedy told the station.
He said he hopes his fix will be enough to satisfy his neighbors, but said he's not sure.
“In Acacia, there are some angry, maybe even evil-minded people about Obama," he said.
The same flag design caused a stir last month in Florida when veterans spotted it flying above a local Democratic Party headquarters.
