Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) was set to meet with Muslim Brotherhood-approved presidential candidates and with the head of the group's political arm Wednesday as part of his trip Egypt to talk "democratic transformation," according to the Jewish Press.
No immediate details were available about the substance of the meeting.
The Jewish Press reported Kerry and U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Ann Patterson were scheduled to meet with Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidates and the head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, Mohamad Mursi.
Kerry, the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, previously met with top Muslim Brotherhood officials during a visit to Egypt in December.
