The Washington Post has a story today detailing Mitt Romney's time at Cranbrook School, a private prep school in Michigan, in the late 1960s. The takeaway: Romney was smart but unathletic, liked to play practical jokes and did all the stupid things people grow up to wish they couldn't remember (though his spokeswoman claims he actually doesn't remember).
A recurring anecdote in the Post's story is about a peer of Romney's named John Lauber, a misfit by all accounts. Several guys who were friends with Romney at the time recall an incident in which they pinned Lauber, who was believed to be gay, to the floor in his dorm while Romney cut chunks of his hair off. Those who were involved continue to express remorse about it. This is presumably the "troubling" incident the Post is referring to in its headline ("Mitt Romney’s prep school classmates recall pranks, but also troubling incidents").
And that's about the worst of it.
