Partly Decomposed Human Head Found Behind Maryland Shopping Center

Police are continuing an investigation after finding a partly decomposed human head Monday afternoon behind a shopping center in Maryland.

The Baltimore Sun reports a call was made to the police office around 4 p.m. August 6. The head, which the Sun reports police saying appears to be from a female, was found in a wooded area near Jumpers Hole Road and Ritchie Highway in Pasadena.

Eye on Annapolis has more from the police department's statement:

Upon arrival, a citizen stated that he was walking into the wood line when he discovered what appeared to be a human skull. The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigative responsibility. A search team was formed in an effort to recover additional human remains. This team included members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division as well as volunteers using cadaver dogs from the Chesapeake Search Dogs and the Mason Dixon Search and Rescue Dogs, Inc.

The police report states other remains of the body were recovered after the search. No identification has been made and the evidence is currently with the medical examiner.

Anyone with information should call Detective Regina Collier 410-222-3417.

This story will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
