It's nice to be loved'; Donald Trump actually said that

The Republican National Convention set list of speakers is coming together. The New York Times has a story today on who's been selected to give a speech, who's still being considered and who's being held a comfortable arms length away.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich will apparently not be speaking (though Newt will host a fun workshop called "Newt University"!).

Herman Cain is really hoping Romney reads the Times. Cain told the paper, "Me speaking at the convention could offer, No. 1, some enthusiasm. No. 2, some inspiration to get past any differences that still exist amongst various groups. And let’s be honest, it’s there. We’re not a homogeneous party yet." Sounds like a threat.

Sarah Palin may still get a spot. And also Donald Trump:

In an interview, Mr. Trump happily explained his appeal with voters. “They like what I say,” he said. “I’m a very popular guy, as crazy as it might sound. It’s nice to be loved.”

Oh. My. God.

For now, here's the list of people who are confirmed to speak.
