Were slingshots too violent? Newest 'Angry Birds' arsenal is bubbles

The popular smartphone game Angry Birds -- you know, the one where the colorful birds are slingshotted toward block towers in the hopes of toppling the pigs who are after their eggs -- is getting a new weapon. But it looks like it's not one to add to the slingshot.

It's a pink, feminine bird that blows bubbles angrily -- if those two words can even be combined -- at the pigs. While still effective against the green pig heads, the bubbles just seem a bit fluffing causing me to wonder if there was some backlash for not having a less violet alternative for dealing with the pesky pigs.

It is not official that bubbles will be the actual use of the bird in the upcoming "Back to School" edition of the game, but given that she blows the bubbles to defend her kind against the pigs in Rovio's latest promo video, it might not be a bad assumption.
