Report: Rodney King Died From Accidental Drowning -- Also Had Alcohol, Cocaine, Marijuana & PCP in His Blood

Rodney King dead

Rodney King died in June of an accidental drowning, though alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP in his system were contributing factors to his death, CNN reported.

King's autopsy results had been expected Thursday, more than two months after police officers in Rialto, Calif. pulled the 47-year-old out of the bottom of his pool on June 17. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police at the time said there was no indication of foul play and were treating the case as a drowning death. King's fiance had called 911 at about 5:30 a.m. reporting she had found him in the pool.

Rialto Police Capt. Randy De Anda told CNN the autopsy results were consistent with the police investigation's conclusion.

King was the black motorist severely beaten by Los Angeles police officers during a traffic stop in 1991, with the officers' subsequent acquittal touching off the deadly 1992 Los Angeles riots.
