If you have had enough campaign messaging for one election, we do not suggest signing up for the Presidents email listserve. The President sent six duplicate emails in a row asking for volunteers, all within 24 hours. The email attempts to use the recent controversy over women's rights (fueled by Rep. Todd Akin's comments on "legitimate rape") on the campaign to elicit a reaction.
The email notes that the "choice for women this November couldn't be clearer" and warns that there is a great deal at stake for anyone who would "sit on the sidelines." The email then refers to a new organizing tool just for women and gives you a link that can sign you up for it and also take your donations. Each identical email was sent within approximately three hours of each other over the course of 24 hours.
TheBlaze has contacted the Obama campaign as to whether this was willful spamming or a technical campaign glitch.
The text of the email is below:
Thank you for standing with President Obama.
The choice for women this November couldn't be clearer -- and there's too much at stake for anyone to sit on the sidelines.
If you or someone you know wants to take the next step, check out Women for Obama on Dashboard, the campaign's online organizing tool.
Thanks, and see you out there.
