On display at GOP convention: 'CHANGE

Politico has an advance look this morning at the set design and control room of the Republican convention hall in Tampa:

The convention floor itself is surrounded by two LED-screen “ribbons” upon which a Republican crew of 16 sitting in a room at the nearby Tampa Bay Convention Center will select tweets, Facebook posts and Google+ messages to display. More than 200,000 pounds of equipment — including thousands of red, white and blue balloons — are above the floor where delegates will be sorted by state. Michigan, Romney’s birth state, will sit in the very front.

On one wall behind the Nevada and Kentucky sections, the word “CHANGE” is written, a strange choice given that that was the Democrats’ winning 2008 slogan and Republican critics have constantly mocked it since President Barack Obama took office. “Well, we want another change because the last one didn’t work,” a GOP publicist explained.
