McCain says Romney should 'go on the offensive' in 9/11 speech

Mitt Romney will address the National Guard today in Reno, Nev., to mark the 11th anniversary of 9/11. Because of the mini-controversy regarding Romney's Republican convention speech -- in which he made no mention of Afghanistan -- Sen. John McCain says Romney should use the time to ding President Obama.

... McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview that he thinks Romney should use his speech Tuesday to “go on the offensive — to point out that the president never mentions victory in Afghanistan, but talks about withdrawal. That has clearly encouraged the Taliban and extremists. The level of violence is up.”

“Of course, I believe that he should have repeated what he has continually said throughout the campaign: how much we appreciate the men and women who serve,” McCain said. “But there is nothing for him to be defensive about.”

Today might not be the best day for that. Just a thought.
