Glenn Beck Warns of Nation's 'Moral Dependency' on Government in 'Oval Office' Speech

"Moral complacency is what happens when citizens, egged on by a permissive media, look at a man sitting in this chair as a father figure, as the great protector."

During Wednesday evening's broadcast of his show on TheBlazeTV, Glenn Beck dedicated his "Oval Office" speech to explaining what it means when a population becomes dependent on the government, not just economically, but morally as well.

"I'm deeply troubled by economic dependency but what really worries me is moral dependency," Beck said. "Moral dependency is what happens when citizens become complacent in their moral choices - in their sense of their own self-worth."

He continued: "Moral complacency is what happens when citizens, egged on by a permissive media, look at a man sitting in this chair as a father figure, as the great protector."

Beck explained that dictators always rise to power by promising "unbound promises" of economic prosperity, like free health care, free food and free shelter. The end result is "moral slavery," he said.
