Real News From The Blaze:' Biden's 'Buried' Middle Class Remarks

With promotion from the Drudge Report and Fox News, the Daily Caller released a much anticipated video Tuesday night of President Barack Obama speaking at Hampton University in 2007 that some have referred to as "Obama's other race speech." As TheBlaze reported Tuesday night, in the speech Obama says that Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans were treated differently than 9/11 victims in New York and Hurricane Andrew victims in southern Florida, which some see as implying that the federal government’s slow response was somehow related to the fact that New Orleans is largely black and poverty stricken. In the video, the then-Senator Obama also praises his controversial former past Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

While the president's 2007 speech may have been the more popular viral video Tuesday, the video of Vice President Joe Biden speaking to a crowd of supporters in North CarolinaTuesday may be more important. While discussing taxes in the video, Biden said that the middle class has" been buried the last four years."

The Romney camp responded quickly in agreement to the vice president's remarks.

“We agree,” Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan said in Iowa Tuesday. “That means we need to stop digging by electing Mitt Romney the next president of the United States.”

"Of course the middle class has been buried," Ryan went on to say." They're being buried by regulations, they're being buried by taxes, they're being buried by borrowing, they're being buried by the Obama administration’s economic failures.”

The Obama campaign has tried to explain the remark, suggesting that Biden has been taken out of context while taking a swipe at the Bush administration.

“As the vice president has been saying all year and again in his remarks today, the middle class was punished by the failed Bush policies that crashed our economy, and a vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan is a return to those failed policies,” Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith has responded.
