"This is Barack Obama. You know, the president?"
President Obama stopped at a campaign office in Chicago to make thank-you calls to volunteers on Tuesday. Unfortunately for him, the first person he spoke with wasn't sure who he was when he called.
"Hi is this Hattie? This is Barack Obama," the President said on the phone, according to a pool report.
Obama had to repeat who he was. "This is Barack Obama. You know, the president?" he said.
A separate pool report indicates the person on the line was Hattie Portis-Jones, a Georgia woman who was helping get out the vote in Wisconsin.
After hanging up, Obama said, "She was very nice to me even though she initially didn't know who I was."
This post has been updated to reflect it was specifically a campaign volunteer the President called, not just a voter.
