Climate Change Naysayer Evicted From U.N. Summit to a 'Chorus of Boos

Lord Christopher Monckton, a former adviser under the late prime minister Margaret Thatcher and vocal skeptic of man-made global warming, was evicted from the U.N.'s climate change summit taking place in Qatar on Thursday.

According to a report published on Climate Depot, a well-known blog among climate skeptics managed by Marc Morano and the Center for a Constructive Tomorrow, Monckton "quietly slipped into the seat reserved for the delegation of Myanmar," and voiced his opinion on the lack of global warming in recent years.

"In the 16 years we have been coming to these conferences, there has been no global warming," Monckton said, according to E&E Greenwire.

The reporter for the news service, Jean Chemnick, wrote that he was taken from the hall to a "chorus of boos" and had his U.N. credentials stripped. This is confirmed by the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change by Twitter.

Others have voiced their praise and discontent at Monckton's stunt on Twitter as well.

The U.N. said in its post on Twitter that Monckton was removed not for voicing skepticism of man-made global warming but for impersonating a delegate from Myanmar.

Moreno wrote on the site that Monckton was referring to data released in October that found there was no rise in temperature from 1997 through August 2012.
