Just days before Super Bowl Sunday, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver is under fire for some anti-gay remarks he made during a Tuesday interview with radio personality Artie Lange.

Lange aired the audio of the interview on his show on Tuesday night, in which Culliver said gay players would not be welcome on the football team.

"I don't do the gay guys, man," Culliver said. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team. They gotta get up out of here if they do."

"Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can't be…in the locker room man. Nah."

Lange also asked the cornerback whether any gay players should keep their homosexuality a secret during their NFL careers, to which Culliver replied: "Yeah, come out 10 years later after that."

The 49ers released the following statement on Wednesday condemning the comments:

"The San Francisco 49ers reject the comments that were made [Tuesday], and have addressed the matter with Chris. There is no place for discrimination within our organization at any level. We have and always will proudly support the LGBT community."

Surprisingly, there has apparently never been an openly gay active player in the NFL.

The 49ers play the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
