On Monday, Pope Benedict XVI became the first pope in 600 years to resign. The 85-year-old says he no longer possesses enough strength to carry out his duties as pope and plans to step down at the end of the month.
In an eery occurrence, the basilica of St. Peter's dome was struck by a bold of lightening just hours after Pope Benedict announced his resignation. Here's the photo via the Daily Mail:
