These Navy Members Found One of the Most Innovative Ways to Cut a Cake: A Backhoe

It is a tradition in the U.S. Marine Corps to cut their birthday cake with a sword. Not to be outdone when it comes to innovative cake cutting techniques though, members of the U.S. Navy Seabees did the honors with, shall we say in the words of Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, "more power."

Using an "entrenching tool" -- what appears to be a shovel -- strapped to a backhoe, Equipment Operator 2nd Class Sam Sutheimer with the Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group was in charge of slicing.

The cake was in honor of the Seabees' 71st birthday.

To the Marines' credit, a sword would most likely do a much more uniform job at divvying up the cake, but these members of the Navy's construction battalions sure made good use of their resources.
