In the wake of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's controversial decision to both apologize and offer monetary compensation to Turkey for the 2010 Gaza Flotilla incident, the Turkish people are gloating.
Large billboards erected by the Ankara municipality on Monday, thanked Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, saying that he made the Turkish people proud.
"Israel apologized to Turkey," begins the billboard.
"Dear prime minister, we are grateful that you let our country experience this pride."
Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc told reporters that Israel's move marked a "big success of Turkish foreign policy."
