Pilot Makes Unbelievably Peaceful Belly Landing in Plane With Jammed Wheels -- but See the Last Words He Sent to His Wife Just In Case
April 12, 2013
"I can't stay up here forever."
A small, private plane was forced to make an emergency landing on its belly in Arizona Thursday after its wheels failed to lower.
KNXV-TV reported 69-year-old pilot Galen Flinn asking air traffic control to "tell my wife I love her" if things didn't go well. Fortunately, Flinn was able to tell her himself after he touched down safely at Scottsdale Municipal Airport just after noon yesterday.

Flinn's landing gear became jammed while he was in the air and he told the controller he wanted to land because "I can't stay up here forever."

KNXV-TV's "Air 15" video camera was in the sky at the time as was able to capture footage of the landing and the station was there for Flinn's reunion with his wife at their home later:
Check out KTLA's report about the harrowing story as well:
Flinn was not injured in the incident where his plane skidded to a stop on the runway. The plane, on the other hand, is likely totaled.
