Marathon Mayhem Video #9: Marathon Explosion Captured From Runner's Point of View

"This is a video my mom recorded of the explosion. We are so lucky we got out of there when we did."

(YouTube)

A video reportedly recorded by one of the marathon runners in the 2013 Boston Marathon on Monday shows one of the explosions that rocked the city and left at least three dead and more than 100 injured.*

There is nothing off about the first 7 seconds of the video. Marathon runners can be seen making their way to the finish line as specters cheer them on.

Then a deafening explosion rings out and cheers quickly turn into blood-curdling screams of horror. The fact that the video shows the scene from the marathoner's point of view makes it even more horrifying.

"This is a video my mom recorded of the explosion. We are so lucky we got out of there when we did. My mom didn't finish the race but we are all safe and that's what matters. My heart goes out to victims," the YouTube video's description reads.

Watch the video below:

*As Deadspin notes, it appears this could be the second explosion. If you look closely, you can see what appears to be smoke in the background from what could be the first explosion.
