FBI Releases Higher Quality, 'Up Close' Images of Boston Marathon Suspects

In a further appeal for the public’s help, the FBI overnight posted new, higher resolution images of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects. This even as law enforcement officials were engaged in firefights in Cambridge and then Watertown, Mass.

In the newly released photos, the man the FBI refers to as “Suspect 1” can be seen clearly wearing a black baseball cap, a white t-shirt and a black or dark gray hooded jacket.

“Suspect 2” is seen wearing a white baseball cap turned backwards, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black jacket on top.  In several of the photos, both are seen carrying backpacks.

The quality of the photos would allow anyone who knows these individuals to recognize them.

Another new photo the FBI released at 2:00 am Eastern Friday morning.

Several news agencies, including the Boston Globe, early Friday morning reported that one of the Boston bombing suspects was captured, while WHDH reported one of the suspects was “accounted for” in the Watertown incident. Those reports further said that a manhunt was underway for the second suspect.

As TheBlaze reported earlier, after the FBI released lower resolution images of the suspects on Thursday:

[Richard] DesLauriers [the special agent in charge of the F.B.I.’s Boston field office] expressed in the conference that if these men are known or seen by anyone in public, they are considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Those with information as to the names or whereabouts of these men should contact the FBI. “Do not take any action on your own,” he warned. […]

The man in the white cap is seen setting down a backpack at the site of one of the blasts, DesLauriers said.

DesLauriers said, “Somebody out there knows these individuals as friends, neighbors, co-workers, or family members of the suspects.”

“Though it may be difficult, the nation is counting on those with information to come forward and provide it to us,” he added.
