There are currently 100 inmates at Gitmo who are carrying out a hunger strike. According to the Guardian, about 45 prisoners are being force-fed. Human rights organizations have condemned the practice and Guantanamo Bay prisoners have filed a motion asking for the practice to be stopped.

Others, including President Barack Obama, argue the process is necessary so the prisoners don't die.

“I don’t want these individuals to die,” President Obama said previously.

Force-feeding is considered a violation of medical ethics by World Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, according to the Los Angeles Times.
