Filmmaker Initially Blamed for Benghazi Terror Attack Speaks Out in First TV Interview

"Before you do anything, please give yourself time to think about it."

In his first TV interview since being released from jail, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the filmmaker behind the infamous YouTube video initially blamed for causing the deadly Benghazi terror attack, agreed that the Obama administration was "irresponsible" for prematurely blaming the video.

Nakoula told CNN's Jake Tapper that the government has kept him in hiding -- but for his own safety. He had no comment when asked whether the Obama administration put him in danger by essentially blaming him for causing the Benghazi attack.

“Before you do anything, please give yourself time to think about it,” Nakoula said, addressing the administration.

However, Nakoula spoke fondly of President Barack Obama and said there needs to be a separation "between the president and the administration."

“I like him personally,” he said of Obama. "I don’t blame him. He has a lot of responsibility."

When later asked whether he believes that Islam is a "religion that promotes terrorism," Nakoula again had "no comment."
