Do You Believe God Can Save a Football Team?' Entire High School Team Reportedly Commits to Christ

"...the Towers high school football team comes forth and receives salvation."

A well-known Baptist pastor claims to have converted an entire high school football team to Christianity over the weekend.

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church led by Bishop Eddie Long posted on Facebook that it welcomed the Towers High School football team to the "Kingdom" Sunday.

"Watch the Towers High School football team they came forth in the Power of One Sunday to receive Christ. Go Titans! We stand with you and are proud of you!" another Facebook post read, promoting a video showing the team on stage at the megachurch with the congregation cheering and dancing:

"Standing as one, the Towers high school football team comes forth and receives salvation," the video's description says.

The reported salvation of the football team comes just after a player on another local team died in a tragic accident on the field Friday, which the Christian Post seems to insinuate could have been part of the impetus. De'Antre Turman, a junior at Creekside High School, was playing in a scrimmage game against Banneker High School Friday when he broke his neck in a routine tackle, according to WGCL-TV.

“He lived by football, family, friends and God,” his friend Jamari Benning told the Atlanta Constitution-Journal. “That’s all Tre Tre was thinking about. He always had a goal to always be great. He was never stingy, selfish; he was just a good person and a role model. He never had any doubt in God. He always kept his faith.”
