The 41-Second Video of a Close Bison Encounter You'll Want to Watch to the Very End
September 02, 2013
"How to be quiet around a bison."
There's something to be said about being quiet and enjoying hearing only the sounds of nature. A couple hiking in Yellowstone found another benefit to the gift of silence -- safety.
A redditor posted a YouTube video titled "How to be quiet around a bison." The video shows a very large, slow-moving bison sauntering down a path in Yellowstone National Park toward the videographer.

The bison appears to pass within just a few feet of the couple, who the person on the social news site reddit claims were his brother and his girlfriend.

Their faces at the end of the 41-second video are priceless. And we've seen a few examples of terrifying bison charges that would give spectators good reason to hide and stay quiet if they saw one coming.

In a comment, the redditor explained that his brother and girlfriend were "just hiking on a trail and saw him coming their way up ahead... (moved) to the side and happened to have a camera handy."

Now wipe your brow with a sigh of relief. That was a close one.
Some commenters on reddit have advised people take a little more cover next time -- hiding behind a tree for example -- just in case.
