MoveOn.org will reportedly unveil the 30-second TV spot on MSNBC this week. The ad predicts any military action in Syria will lead to years of war and instructs Congress, "don't lead us down this road again," according to the Associated Press (AP).
The group is reportedly spending in the "mid five figures" to run the ad.
The AP says the ad by the liberal activist group "underscores the difficulty President Barack Obama is having in getting liberals to support him."
On Monday, MoveOn.org has called on its members from around the country to hold a "vigil to oppose strikes on Syria."
With the slogan "progressives unite to oppose a military strike on Syria," the group claims they have "millions of members mobilizing to stop more war in the Middle East."
On Wednesday, MoveOn.org said their members overwhelmingly oppose military action in Syria.
“MoveOn members, like the majority of Americans, oppose military intervention in Syria and want Congress to reject the Authorization for Use of Military Force resolution," said Executive Director of MoveOn.org Civic Action Anna Galland, in a statement. "Following MoveOn members’ overwhelming 73% vote to oppose the war, we are launching a major effort calling on Congress to vote ‘no’ on the President’s request for an Authorization for Use of Military Force in Syria."
“We have seen the rushed march to war before," Galland added. "We cannot allow it again."
