CNN Conducts 12 Minute Interview With Susan Rice & Doesn't Ask Her About Benghazi

CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria recently conducted a 12-minute interview with White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice, but reportedly failed to ask the former Ambassador to the United Nations about Benghazi.

NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard first reported the absence of the mention:

To be sure, the subjects of the first eight minute segment - Iran - and the second shorter segment - Syria - are tremendously important. No question.

However, as it appears from LexisNexis that this is the first time Zakaria interviewed Rice since the Benghazi attack, and that she would possibly today be Secretary of State rather than National Security Advisor if not for how she answered questions about the incident, it's almost unimaginable that Zakaria wouldn't ask her about it.

President Barack Obama formally tapped Rice as his national security advisor back in June.

Republicans have skewered her for the way she handled the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
