...and no doubt like many Americans, he has a burning question in regard to the possible federal government shutdown scheduled for day's end Monday:

As you might have guessed, our elected officials took care of this quandary many moons ago:
Would Congress continue to be paid during a shutdown? Yes. The 27th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1992, holds that “No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of representatives shall have intervened.” Intended to prevent Congress from voting itself a raise, it also protects members from a pay cut.
