Mother Says She Grew Marijuana With Son Because It's Cheaper Than Drinking
October 05, 2013
"They are mine. I grow marijuana."
A mother and son accused of growing marijuana say they did so because it is cheaper than drinking, according to Florida police.
An arrest report says Amelia Smith, 63, and her son Dominic Bonnano, 39, cultivated nine marijuana plants in their backyards, according to WPTV.

Authorities saw the plants during an unrelated foot chase and returned to the home later to have Smith admit she grows the plants.
"They are mine," she told police, according to the arrest record. "I grow marijuana."
Smith then allegedly added that she cultivates the plants because drinking is more expensive than smoking the illegal drug.
