What Were Furloughed Government Workers Doing During the Shutdown? This Report May Provide a Clue

A new report published on Friday suggests that furloughed government workers may have binged on Netflix during the shutdown, according to The Huffington Post.

The report, prepared for The Huffington Post by Procera Networks, examined web traffic in the D.C. metro area and found that there had been a surge in traffic to Netflix.

"It was obvious that more people were watching Netflix on those two weeks than the previous two weeks," Cam Cullen, vice president of global marketing at Procera, told The Huffington Post.

One Internet service provider in the D.C. area found about a 15-percent increase in traffic directed at the popular TV and movie viewing website.

As The Huffington Post notes, however, correlation does not equal causation and a number of popular titles were also released during that particular timeframe which may have accounted for the surge.
