Did You Catch Obama's Very Curious Immigration Statement During His Speech Tuesday?

"Would any other politician get a pass...?"

An immigration remark by President Obama on Tuesday prompted ABC News political director Rick Klein to tweet this question:

As part of Obama's west coast fundraising trip, he stopped to talk to Dreamworks Animation employees about jobs and the economy. During his speech at the studio just outside Hollywood Tuesday, Obama said he "could tell" by "looking at faces" among Dreamworks employees he met earlier that they weren't born in the United States.

Obama's exact quote:

"Just looking at faces I could tell there were some folks who (pause) are here not because they were born here but because they want to be here, and they bring extraordinary talents to the United States, and that's part of what makes America special."

After Klein's tweet, reaction was decidedly negative, including some indicating a conservative politician making such an assumption would receive no mercy:
