Someone Shot Santa With a Pellet Gun — and a Local News Crew Captured It All on Video

"My back! Agh, my back!"

A man dressed as Santa Clause was shot with a pellet gun in Washington, D.C. Tuesday morning during a toy giveaway — and the entire incident was captured on video by a local news crew.

Video shot by a WJLA photographer shows the Santa actor waiving his hands shouting "Merry Christmas" in a Southeast D.C. neighborhood. Suddenly, however, he stops, groans in pain and claims someone "just shot me."

"Something hit me in the back," he adds.

"You got shot?" a perplexed man can be heard saying in the video.

"Something in my back," the man dressed as Santa replies as he continues to loudly groan. "My back! Agh, my back!"

According to WJLA, witnesses reported hearing two shots and police believe they came from a second story window.

"Santa" wanted to continue the toy giveaway, but paramedics insisted he be evaluated at an area hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to WJLA.

The local ABC affiliate reported the giveaway continued without him and that "a man playing the Grinch stepped in to help."
