Palin jabs Katie Couric's canceled talk show

More than five years later and the rift between former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and longtime newswoman Katie Couric still hasn't healed.

In an interview with "Extra," Palin took aim at Couric over the ending of her syndicated daytime talk show, which lasted just two seasons after its debut in 2012.

Asked for her reaction to the announcement that the show was ending, made in December, Palin said she heard the news from friends.

"I don't remember where I was but I remember getting a couple of texts," she said. "Texts that said things like, 'Aw, sorry that it didn't work out there at CBS or ABC.'"

Palin was then asked for her reaction to Couric leaving her post as anchor of the CBS "Evening News" in 2011.

"That wasn't real surprising," Palin said, "because you know the ratings were going in the tank with her as one of the head honchos there in the newsrooms at CBS. And then it didn't surprise me, her other move, because things weren't going real well there either."

Bad blood surfaced between Couric and Palin during the 2008 presidential election, when Palin was selected as the Republican vice presidential candidate. In a most-memorable interview, Couric pressed Palin to name specific publications she liked to read for news. Palin declined, instead praising the news industry in general.

Couric made her debut as "global news anchor" for Yahoo! News on Monday.
