Katie Couric makes debut as 'global anchor

If you're going to accept the title of "Global News Anchor" for a major news outlet -- in this case, Yahoo! News -- shouldn't your debut be a little more dramatic?

Longtime newswoman Katie Couric kicked off her new gig at Yahoo! with a fizzle. She made next to no news in an interview with former Defense Secretary Robert Gates about his new and now overexposed book.

Gates stood by his criticism of Vice President Joe Biden's foreign policy positions, explained his much-discussed remarks about President Obama and maintained that he's not reckless for voicing concerns about the administration only after he left his post at the White House.

On the flip side, Couric was wearing an attractive pair of glasses.
