An Ohio man was arrested and charged earlier this week for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl he met on Facebook. The girl apparently ran away from home and was reported missing.

Christopher Sims, 30, of Lorain, Ohio, reportedly talked to the girl on Facebook and then encouraged her to meet him in person. The 11-year-old was reported missing by her father on Feb. 19.

Though the report isn’t clear on how he tracked down Sims, the father apparently saw his daughter leaving his house and getting into a car with the suspect at around 1 a.m. on March 1. The dad followed them and called police, who pulled over and arrested Sims around 30 minutes later.

The girl reportedly told police that she had been staying with Sims and admitted they had sex.

Lorain Police Detective Tabitha Angello told the Chronicle-Telegram officers executed search warrants at Sims’ home and found items relating to the alleged rape.

“Sims was previously indicted for rape, gross sexual imposition and unlawful conduct with a minor in 2010 for an incident that occurred in 2004,” the report states.

The suspect was being held at Lorain City Jail on a $1 million bond on Wednesday. His hearing is scheduled for later this month.
