What a Young Boy Who Is Blind and Autistic Did on a Church Stage Is Truly Inspirational

Christopher Duffley hasn't had the easiest life. The 12-year-old boy, who is autistic and was born blind, was placed in foster care when he was just a baby. But despite these challenges he has a gift his family believes comes straight from God.

Christopher has perfect pitch and, though he didn't begin speaking until the first grade, he discovered his ability to sing and play instruments early on.

In fact, the boy recently took the stage at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where he inspired parishioners with a performance of Mercy Me's "I Can Only Imagine."

A video posted on World Outreach Church's YouTube page features Christopher's performance as well as commentary from his aunt, Christine Duffley, who described the young boy's struggles in detail.

According to Duffley, who adopted Christopher when he was only 14 months old, the child was born prematurely at 26 weeks, weighing in at only 1 pound, 12 ounces and he had cocaine in his system.

Duffley, who said Christopher is her brother's biological son, learned soon after the child's birth that he was in foster care, so she and her husband made the decision to adopt him. They're been raising their nephew and sharing his amazing testimony ever sense.

Despite the troubles Christopher has faced, Duffley believes God has truly blessed him.

"When Christopher sings 'Open the Eyes of My Heart' he teaches us to not see everything with our eyes -- but to see things the way God sees things through our heart," she said in the church video.
