Try Not to Get Choked Up Listening to Overseas Military Kids Spontaneously Singing a Tune Close to Their Hearts
April 05, 2014
"It gives you chills to see patriotism like this displayed..."
Hannah Kunze — manager of a before-and-after school program for military-family children at Naval Station Rota in Spain — shares "a glimpse of what it means to work with these children."
Kunze said 40 of her kids — ranging from 5 to 12 years old — were taken to a matinee on the base. Before the move is shown, the children all stood up (as patrons are asked to do) in honor of the playing of the National Anthem.
But Kunze writes that her kids did something extra — “without being asked" they "belt out our National Anthem with their hands on their hearts," she writes on her YouTube explanation of the video posted April 4.
"It gives you chills to see patriotism like this displayed...at such a young age," she writes. "Our kids know what it is to have daily sacrifices for our country. They know no other life then the one they have, but they are happy children living happy lives."
April is the Month of the Military Child, added the Independent Journal Review.
