You May or May Not Believe Who Jay Carney Says Gave President Obama His 'Toughest Interview' in 2012

"Probably the most substantive, challenging interview Barack Obama had in the election year..."

President Barack Obama’s “toughest interview” in 2012 was with comedian Jon Stewart on "The Daily show," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said at a George Washington University forum on Thursday.

The claim will certainly send fingers pointing back the mainstream media, which routinely gets poor marks from critics over its coverage of the Obama administration.

Carney told CBS' Major Garrett that Obama and his staff felt it was appropriate for the president to go on "The Daily Show" because the program reaches a lot of the younger people they were trying to reach in 2012.

“I think if you look back at 2012 and the series of interviews the sitting president of the United States gave, probably the toughest interview he had was with Jon Stewart,” Carney added. “Probably the most substantive, challenging interview Barack Obama had in the election year was with the anchor of ‘The Daily Show.’”

So seriously, if that’s true, what does it say about the state of the media in the United States?
