Dad Opens Door to His Shed and Finds This Downright Scary-Looking Insect Hive

Impressive.

When left undisturbed, hive-building insects can construct some pretty remarkable -- and large -- nests.

This one, while not notable for its size necessarily compared to others we've seen, is impressive in its own way given its placement.

A Redditor going by CountBubs posted a photo of the hornets' nest on the social news site, writing that it was found by his dad in a shed that had gone unopened for a couple years.

The face is a wooden statue that was allegedly already in the shed and that the critters built around.

Countbubs wrote that the nest is abandoned, but some fellow Redditors warn that it could just be dormant with hibernating insects within.

"I knew someone that took a large hornet nest inside their house as decor. They found it in winter. A few days of being in the warm air they woke up. Needless to say what followed wasn't fun for anyone," TheCunning1 wrote.
