Alleged Carjackers Run Away from Victim After He Fights Back. Then He Pulls His Own Gun.
May 10, 2014
The unidentified driver was taken into custody and has been uncooperative.
A 30-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz SUV was approached about 4:40 a.m. Friday by Jermaine Johnson and Kaiison Lewis on a Bronx, New York street, police said.
Johnson and Lewis tried to steal the SUV at gunpoint, investigators believe, the New York Daily News reported.
After the driver fought back, the pair ran to Johnson’s car parked nearby.
But the driver wasn't done. He chased them down, pulled his own gun, and shot up Johnson's green Acura TL, police said.
Johnson, 28, who was in the driver’s seat, was shot in the midsection and died at the scene, officials said. Described as “a loving, caring, brother,” Johnson became the father of a boy last month, said his sister, Yanique Johnson.
Lewis, 23, was shot in the head and midsection and died at a hospital.
The unidentified driver was taken into custody and has been uncooperative, police sources told the Daily News.
