TV host Megyn Kelly challenged former Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday night, introducing him as "the man who helped lead us into Iraq in the first place" before directly telling him that history has proven that he "got it wrong."

At the start of the segment, Cheney defended the Bush administration's handling of Iraq, claiming that the U.S. troop surge in 2007 was effective.
"I think we went into Iraq for very good reasons," he said, charging that President Barack Obama didn't leave a stay-behind force large enough to equip the Iraqi military. "I think when we left office we had a situation in Iraq that was very positive."
But Kelly challenged his critique of Obama, saying, "Time and time again, history has proven that you got it wrong as well in Iraq, sir."
She then proceeded to highlight specific examples of statements he made -- from claims about weapons of mass destruction to the impact the war would have on extremists' tactics -- that ended up not panning out
"What do you say to those who say you were so wrong about so much at the expense of so many?," Kelly asked.
